Reflecting on Internet humour and the flow of information in China’s social media landscape, XSWL — Chinese Internet slang which translates as “laughing to death” — is a provocative look at communication in the face of censorship. We’ve been promised “wild colours, cartoon imagery, and everyday playthings”, at what’ll be the latest addition to one of Sydney’s most interesting art galleries. Carraway’s narration gives breathing room to appreciate the evocative imagery of Fitzgerald’s writing. However, it comes to light that the audience is also an extension of the first-person narrator, Nick Carraway (Ryan Hodson), who is caught up in the party lifestyles and debauchery of those around him.
Elizabeth Shores is a creative producer whose practice engages multi-sited transnational methods of embodied collaborative design to examine languages of empire in material cultures. Supported by the NSW Government's CBDs Revitalisation Program, ETERNITYLAND champions the creative community of Sydney and has been able to employ 60 artists and events professionals after what has been a challenging couple of years. Grace Kemarre Robinya, working in tandem with artists from Yarrenyty Arltere Town Camp, has produced an exhibition which focuses on the life-giving support of rain in the desert. Colourful, contemplative, and interactive, it’s well worth a visit if you’re near AGNSW. The highly-anticipated teamLab Borderless immersive art experience launched in Jeddah in June 2024. This is the art collective’s first museum to open in the Middle East. To support the creative community in the local area, 12 of the attraction’s 40 galleries were reserved for Houston-based artists.
