Early learning (childcare) centres are fee-paying and might offer full-day education and care services for children from birth to school age. At Community Kids, we work closely with our families to enhance children’s development and ignite their passion for early learning greensborough learning. We operate over 70 childcare and early learning centres, providing long day care and Government-approved Kindergarten and Preschool programs. Our Preschool Program at Happy Nest Daycare prepares children for kindergarten with a mix of structured learning and play-based activities. Early Start Kindergarten (ESK) provides eligible 3-year-old children with 15 hours of free or low-cost kindergarten each week. To be eligible for ESK, children must be from a refugee or asylum seeker background, identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait islander and/or be from a family who has had contact with Child Protection. Most children's education and care services will have a National Quality Standard (NQS) rating.

Elsa MacLeod Kindergarten has a dynamic team of early childhood educators who collaborate in planning, implementing and evaluating quality programs. These services set their own days and hours and are often closed during the school holidays. Our Kindergarten is a place for learning; where children through play, discover who they are, what their capabilities are and learn the role they play in our changing world. With a secure indoor and outdoor web camera service, you can watch your child conveniently at any time by using a smartphone, laptop or PC at your home or workplace. It is named after Elsa MacLeod, to commemorate her tireless efforts in establishing Portland’s first kindergarten. If your child becomes unwell while at the centre, teachers will make them comfortable and ask you to pick them up. If you’re not available, they’ll call one of the other contacts listed on your enrolment form. Your child will need a backpack or bag, a refillable water bottle, a change of clothes, a wide-brim sun hat and their favourite toy, which can help them settle in. For kindergarten your child will need morning tea and lunch (dependent on the length of the program day).

C&K’s kindy programs are government-approved and led by experienced and university qualified teachers.
